Happy Saplings Social Skills for K-2
Join our friendly introductory social skills group for children from 6-8 years old. Happy Saplings is a fun and energetic social skills group that teaches and introduces the concepts of friendship development to children who have social pragmatic and communication difficulties. Prior to joining the group children are invited in for a play with one of our senior programmers to help develop individual goals to be worked on during class. In addition to individual goal setting the class incorporates age appropriate pro-social behaviours such as sharing, accepting others ideas, and offering compliments.
Children will learn:
Taking turns
Sharing
Problem solving
Working towards a common goal with a friend or in small group
Winning and losing
Accepting others’ ideas and perspectives
Reciprocal Conversation
Each class will be structured as followed:
· Warm up game and circle time
· Structured play activities to work on individualized and group goals with peers
· Snack Time
· Supervised Free Play (gives children a chance to practice what they’ve been learning)

Date: Saturdays, April 6th- May 11th
Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Location: Happy Oak Centre, 125 West Broadway, Vancouver.
Group Size: up to 6 kids
Cost: $750/6 class/12 hours
Group Leaders: TBA - All groups have BCBA supervision in the development of goals and teaching strategies.
*New student fee is $800 to allow us to develop a few personal goals to work on while at group. Returning students pay $750.
